Memorandum of Understanding Regarding Replacement Plan for the Goi Thermal Power Station

JERA Co., Inc. (“JERA”), JXTG Nippon Oil & Energy Corporation (“JXTG”), and TEPCO Fuel & Power, Inc. (“TEPCO FP”) are pleased to announce that they have signed a Memorandum of Understanding ("MOU") regarding the joint development of a plan, currently being advanced by JERA, to replace the Goi Thermal Power Station.
JERA and JXTG will work together to establish, during FY2018, a joint company to implement this plan, while the primary role of TEPCO FP will be to provide the joint company with the construction site.
JERA, JXTG, and TEPCO FP will share their respective expertise and resources to further raise the value of the plan as they seek to contribute to the stable supply of internationally competitive energy and the realization of a low-carbon society, while also earning the understanding of local residents and other parties involved.
Goi Thermal Power Station Replacement Plan Overview
Construction Site: 1 Goi Kaigan, Ichihara city, Chiba prefecture
(On the grounds of the TEPCO FP Goi Thermal Power Station)
Generation Capacity: 780 MW x 3 Units (2,340 MW)
Fuel: LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas)
Generation Type: Gas turbine combined cycle (Gas turbine combustion temperature: 1650°C-class)
Start of Operations: 2023–2024 (planned)
Thermal Efficiency: 64.0% lower heating value
Procedures required under the Environmental Impact Assessment Act were completed in May 2018.
